If you’re under 18, your registration isn’t complete until a parent or legal guardian signs off. Here’s what happens on their side, and what you can do to help it along.

What they receive

After you submit onboarding, the guardian you named gets an email with a secure personal link. They don’t need an account or a password — the link takes them straight to their portal, where they:
  1. confirm your details,
  2. add emergency contact information,
  3. sign the consent forms and their half of the waiver.
While you wait, your status shows as Awaiting Parent and your event page shows whether they’ve finished: The event page showing the parent/guardian card with a send invitation button

Nudging them along

  • Resend the invitation any time from your event page — there’s a button on the Parent/Guardian card. (You can resend at most once every couple of minutes.)
  • If the button says invitations haven’t opened yet, the event hasn’t started sending guardian forms — nothing is wrong; try again once the organizers open them.

They lost the email?

Two options:
  1. Resend it from your event page (easiest).
  2. Send them to the Guardian Portal Center: from the Attend home page, they click Parent or guardian, enter the email address or phone number the organizers have on file for them, and receive a 6-digit verification code that shows them every portal linked to them — including fresh links for any that expired. No digging through their inbox.

Common questions

“I typed my parent’s email wrong.” Go back to the Guardian step if you haven’t submitted yet — changing the email automatically re-sends the invitation to the new address. Already submitted? Email attend@hackclub.com and we’ll fix it. “Can I use my own number/email for my parent?” No — the guardian’s phone must be different from yours, and it genuinely needs to reach them. These forms are legal consent; they have to come from your actual parent or guardian. “My parent finished but I’m still not Complete.” You may still need to sign your half of the waiver — check your dashboard for a “sign your waiver” prompt.
