# Connecting Slack

Hack Club lives on Slack, and so does a lot of the chatter around every event. Linking your Slack account to Attend gets you:

* organizer announcements as **Slack DMs** (as well as email),
* an automatic invite to your **event's Slack channel**, where the pre-event excitement happens.

## How to connect

You'll see a **Connect Slack** banner at the top of Attend until you've linked — click it, or use the **Connect Slack** button in your [profile settings](/participants/15-updating-your-info). You may also get an email titled "Connect your Slack account" with a personal link.

Either way:

1. Click **Connect Slack**.
2. You're taken to Slack — sign in to the **Hack Club Slack** workspace if you aren't already.
3. Approve the connection.
4. You're bounced back to Attend with a success message, and you'll be added to the event channel automatically.

## Common questions

**"I'm not in the Hack Club Slack yet."** Join it first at [hackclub.com/slack](https://hackclub.com/slack), then connect.

**"I connected the wrong Slack account."** Email [attend@hackclub.com](mailto:attend@hackclub.com) and we'll unlink it so you can redo it.

**"Do I have to?"** No — everything important also goes out by email. But the event channel is genuinely fun, and Slack DMs are the fastest way to hear about last-minute changes.
