# Event day: checking in

The big day! Here's exactly what happens when you arrive.

## Before you leave home

* Make sure your ticket is on your phone — wallet pass, PDF, or your event page. See [Your ticket & wallet passes](/participants/10-tickets-and-wallet-passes).
* Charge your phone (and screenshot the QR as a backup if you're worried).
* Check your **Messages** inbox for any last-minute arrival instructions from the organizers.

## At the venue

1. Find the registration desk.
2. Show your **QR code** — from your wallet pass, the PDF, or your event page.
3. A staff member scans it, confirms it's you, and you're checked in. That's it!

If your phone dies or you can't find your code, don't panic — staff can look you up by name at the desk.

## During the event

Staff may scan you at other points too — meals, activities, or when leaving and returning to the venue. Same QR code every time.

Every scan is recorded, and you can see your own check-in history at the bottom of your event page — useful if you're ever unsure whether a scan went through.

## After the event

Events you checked in to become part of your history — and once the event has ended, they're eligible to show on your [public profile](/participants/14-public-profile), if you choose to turn that on.
